Orbital
Fracture Repairs
A blow-out fracture occurs when an object larger
than the size of the orbit hits the eye, creating
a rise in pressure within the eye socket and,
therefore, resulting in a fracture of the bones
of the orbit.
Orbital
Tumours
A tumour may occur in any structure of the eye
orbit, including the bones of the eye socket,
the eye muscles, optic nerve or orbital fat surrounding
the eye. Orbital tumours affect people of all
ages and are usually benign.
Thyroid Eye Disease
Grave’s Disease, also referred to as Thyroid
Eye Disease (TED), is an autoimmune disease which
may involve both the orbital tissues and the thyroid
gland.
Anophthalmos
Anophthalmos is the term used for the loss of
an eye. When surgery is used to remove an eye
it is called an enucleation.
Lacrimal procedures
Watery eyes may be caused by a nasolacrimal duct
obstruction and can be congenital or acquired.
In adults with acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction
treatment is largely surgical (namely, a DCR procedure).
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is cosmetic eyelid surgery which
corrects drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags
below the eyes.
Laser
skin resurfacing
Dr Martin uses a CO2 laser for facial skin resurfacing
which is effective for removing facial wrinkles
and acne scarring, and improves skin texture.
The laser removes the damaged superficial layers
and stimulates the deeper layers to produce collagen.
Brow lifts
Brow-lift surgery is used to reduce or eliminate
frown lines and wrinkling across the forehead,
and to reduce heaviness of the eyebrows. These
can be caused by aging, sun damage and muscle
activity.
Botox
Botox is used to treat blepharospasm and facial
tics. It is also used cosmetically and is one
of the most pain-free and least invasive ways
of minimising crows feet and frown lines which
are found on the forehead, between the eyebrows
and around the eyes.
